About the Role

We are seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven Director of Philanthropy Partnerships to lead our fundraising and communications efforts during a pivotal phase of growth. This new role will sit on the senior leadership team and will be responsible for developing and executing our philanthropic strategy, which includes overseeing a small team and consultants, managing departmental operations, and engaging with the Board. They will also ensure our communication strategy is aligned with and supports our fundraising goals.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will oversee a team of three, including the Senior Officer, Philanthropy & Portfolio Partnerships; the Executive Affairs Coordinator; and the Senior Communications Officer. They will collaborate with the Executive Director to diversify and grow our funding in service of our mission and work in close partnership with the Board of Directors and senior staff.

Ideal candidate

We seek a skilled and ambitious fundraiser with a track record of cultivating transformational gifts, building long-term donor relationships, and leading the strategy and implementation of a fundraising function that supports organizational growth. The ideal candidate brings experience raising six- to seven-figure gifts from a variety of donors, including foundations and HNWIs both in the US and globally. Experience securing eight-figure gifts is a plus. They have an extensive and established network of donors, preferably within climate philanthropy or adjacent fields aligned with our mission.

Strategic and results oriented, the Director will bring experience developing and executing effective fundraising plans that diversify funding streams and grow organizational revenue. They are a collaborative leader with an ability to advise and partner with leaders across an organization to support donor cultivation and engagement. The ideal candidate is a compelling communicator and is able to convey organizational mission and vision to a variety of donors.
